Capabilities that Protect the Warfighter on Display
Dulles, Virginia 8 November 2017 -- Orbital ATK (NYSE: OA), a global leader in aerospace and defense technologies, will highlight a variety of the company’s products and advanced capabilities to key customers in the Middle East, Africa and Asia as an exhibitor during the Dubai Airshow, including the company’s Palletized Weapon System (PaWS). Orbital ATK's Defense Electronic Systems division will be displaying PaWS during the biennial airshow at the Dubai World Central in Dubai, UAE, November 12–16, 2017. Visitors are invited to view PaWS and many other company products at the Orbital ATK display located in the U.S. Pavilion, stand 1566.
PaWS combines Orbital ATK’s combat proven GAU-23 30mm cannon and mission system operators console. The system can be rapidly uploaded and/or downloaded using standard forklift equipment. The PaWS is designed for easy configuration change and provides the customer with flexible, multiple mission capabilities.
The gun system incorporates a modified variant of Orbital ATK’s Mk44 Bushmaster® Automatic Cannon and is designed to fire numerous types of NATO 30MM X 173 rounds, including the 30MM PGU-46/B munitions. The gun suite will use a simple, automatic feed system in order to minimize crew size and reduce overall operating costs.
Additional products featured include Orbital ATK’s Eliminator™, the latest version of the highly-successful AC-208B Armed Caravan aircraft. The Eliminator™ is able to find, fix, identify, track, target, and engage emerging and time-sensitive targets with two HELLFIRE® missiles per wing or 2.75-inch guided rockets, based on mission requirements. The strike capabilities are complemented with a robust suite of sensors and communications equipment for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions. Also on display is the fielded AC-235 Light Gunship that can provide sustained and precise firepower in a variety of scenarios.
Company personnel will be on hand to discuss the Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile (AARGM). AARGM is a supersonic, air-launched tactical missile system with the improved capability to perform Destruction of Enemy Air Defense missions. AARGM is an upgrade to the U.S. Navy AGM-88 HARM system and is able to rapidly engage traditional and advanced land- and sea-based air defense threats, as well as non-radar, time-sensitive strike targets.
Orbital ATK’s portfolio of aircraft survivability equipment that protects aircrews during combat missions will be on display including the ShotFinder Acoustic Hostile Fire Detection System that identifies and directionally locates small-arms fire, anti-aircraft artillery and rocket-propelled grenade threats, and the combat-proven AAR-47 Missile and Laser Warning System with Hostile Fire Indication electronic warfare system, which is designed to protect helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft from surface-to-air threats.
Rounding out the technology offerings will be Orbital ATK’s precision weapons including the Precision Guidance Kit for artillery, now entering its second production year, and Hatchet, a miniature precision glide weapon that is easily integrated on all aircraft types, including unmanned aerial systems, to provide quick, scalable precision strike engagements.
