Orbital ATK Receives United Way of Salt Lake's Corporate Partner of the Year Award

The United Way engages people from all walks of life from more than 40 countries and territories world-wide to create real and lasting change in peoples’ lives.

In one of our work communities, United Way of Salt Lake annually recognizes a small group of companies and individuals for outstanding achievement in creating positive change in the lives of individuals within the community. This year, it was Orbital ATK’s honor to be recognized by United Way of Salt Lake (UWSL) as the corporate partner of the year.

“This award reflects the tremendous generosity of our employees,” said Steve Earl, Vice President and General Manager of Orbital ATK’s Aerospace Structures Division in Clearfield. “They are passionate about giving and serving, and our engagement in United Way reflects our commitment to giving back to our community.”

Each year, through the United Way employee campaign, the company regularly generates more than $150,000 fundraising dollars to go to UWSL. This year Orbital ATK exceeded that amount by raising over $175,000.

“Orbital ATK is honored to have been selected for this award,” said Charlie Precourt, Vice President and General Manager of Orbital ATK’s Propulsion Systems Division, which operates a facility in Magna. “One of our company’s core values is making a difference in the communities where our employees live and work.”

In addition to financial donations, employees enjoy participating in UWSL’s annual Day of Caring project. This year employees took part by reading books to children, planting flowers at neighborhood centers, and contributing to numerous other projects.

“Some organizations seem to stand out in the community and Orbital ATK is one of them,” said Deborah Bayle, President and CEO of UWSL. “They are actively involved in making Utah a better place to live. This award is United Way of Salt Lake’s highest tribute to a corporation that demonstrates community involvement through its support of United Way of Salt Lake.”

Orbital ATK has partnered with UWSL since 1986 and has continued to educate employees about its partnership with UWSL and how important it is to play a role in bettering the surrounding communities. This year, the company hopes to leverage higher employee participation rates through the Shoebox Project, an effort that will allow employees to participate in supply drives to positively impact our local communities.
