Dulles, Virginia 22 February 2017 -- Orbital ATK (NYSE: OA), a global leader in aerospace and defense technologies, will highlight a variety of the company’s products and advanced capabilities as an exhibitor during the Australian International Airshow, including the company’s ability to upgrade and integrate offensive and defensive air capabilities with the Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile (AARGM). The biennial airshow takes place at the Avalon Airport in Geelong, February 28 – March 3, 2017. The Orbital ATK display is located in the U.S. Pavilion, stand 3F17.
The Australian International Airshow provides Orbital ATK with a platform to highlight multiple products to key customers in the region. Company personnel will be on hand to discuss AARGM, a supersonic, air-launched tactical missile system with the improved capability to perform Destruction of Enemy Air Defense missions. AARGM is an upgrade to the U.S. Navy AGM-88 HARM system. AARGM is able to rapidly engage traditional and advanced land- and sea-based air defense threats, as well as non-radar, time-sensitive strike targets. The Royal Australian Air Force was the first foreign military to procure AARGM for integration on their EA-18G Growlers.
In addition to AARGM, Orbital ATK will highlight its portfolio of aircraft protection equipment that protects aircrews during combat missions. Solutions include the ShotFinder Acoustic Hostile Fire Detection System that identifies and directionally locates small-arms fire, anti-aircraft artillery and rocket-propelled grenade threats, and the combat-proven AAR-47 Missile and Laser Warning System with Hostile Fire Indication electronic warfare system, which is designed to protect helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft from surface-to-air threats.
Information will be available on the company’s innovative line of customized solutions that provide allied nations with the next generation of aircraft modification for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, and weaponized platforms outfitted with a variety of weapon systems to include Orbital ATK’s Bushmaster® Chain Guns® and medium-caliber cannons. Orbital ATK’s Palletized Weapons System (PaWS), a modular roll-on/roll-off mission and weapon system utilizes the combat-proven GAU-23 30mm cannon and enables rapid transition from a cargo to a weaponized configuration, providing the customer with flexible, multiple mission capabilities.
